On November 6, 2020, Simon and Ellie Bloom hosted the 19th Pig Gig in support of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta in the backyard of their home.  The event raised over $100,000 for BGCMA and safely brought together colleagues and friends for its customary warm fellowship and delicious barbecue.

New in 2020, the Pig Gig also featured a livestream broadcast of BGCMA’s annual Youth of the Year Event.  The virtual celebration honored 14 teens from BGCMA for their hard work, leadership in their clubs, and commitment toward leading positive change, and it can be viewed in its entirety at https://e.givesmart.com/events/ikE/.

The culmination of the evening was the announcement of Nila Smith as the 2020/2021 Youth of the Year, the highest honor a teen can receive at BGCMA.  Nila, a proud member of the A.W. “Tony” Matthews Boys & Girls Club, was awarded a $3,000 college scholarship and will represent Metro Atlanta in the statewide Youth of the Year competition in spring 2021.  You can learn more about her at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sc3ab5Dgr8k&t=13s.
