Pierce D. Ostwalt

Pierce focuses his practice in appellate and construction litigation and assisting clients with resolving complex business disputes.

Pierce joined Bloom Parham after serving as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Shawn Ellen LaGrua of the Supreme Court of Georgia. Prior to his clerkship with Justice LaGrua, Pierce clerked for the Honorable Katherine P. Nelson, United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Alabama. During these clerkships, Pierce obtained significant experience as a legal writer and researcher and gained valuable insight into how matters are resolved by judges at both the trial and appellate levels in state and federal court.

Pierce graduated from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, where he was a Caruthers Fellow, an Associate Justice of the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Executive Board, and a two-year member of the Richard “Red” L. Jones national moot court team. While at Cumberland, Pierce also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable R. David Proctor and as a judicial intern to the Honorable Corey L. Maze, both of whom serve as United States District Judges for the Northern District of Alabama.

Before embarking on his legal career, Pierce worked in government affairs and communications. He served as a legislative aide for the Georgia State Senate’s Press Office and worked for the Building Owners and Managers Association of Georgia, where he focused on the trade association’s government affairs and strategic communications initiatives. While obtaining his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Auburn University, he also served as an intern in the United States House of Representatives, the Alabama State Senate and the United States Council on Competitiveness
