Steve Parham has over ten years experience in counseling clients and trying cases in the fields of commercial business, real estate, construction, and tort litigation. Steve has represented publicly traded and private companies, franchisees, real estate developers, contractors, landowners, and others in a variety of civil litigation matters, including breach of contract and/or fiduciary duty, tortious interference, real estate title, easement, restrictive covenant, and licensing disputes, and financial services litigation.

Representative matters include:

  • Serving as lead outside litigation counsel to the corporate real estate department of the largest private landowner in the state of Alabama in easement, licensing, title, property damage, and boundary disputes.
  • Counseling national hotel franchisee in construction, easement, and site plan disputes.
  • Representing international venture capital company in commercial claims arising from failed $30 million asset acquisition of coal mining company.
  • Securing summary judgment for Atlanta real estate developer against claims arising from failed $19 million multi-family housing project.
  • Obtaining complete defense verdict as lead trial counsel for international consulting company in breach of contract/services case.

Steve has appeared in both state and federal courts and before arbitration and mediation neutrals across the country and has tried cases to verdict in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Texas.

Steve received his A.B. (summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) and M.A. degrees from the University of Georgia where he was a University of Georgia Presidential Scholar and graduate teaching assistant. While in law school, Steve served as the Executive Articles Editor of the Emory Law Journal and received one of the school’s highest research and writing awards for his student note entitled Uneasy Bedfellows: The NLRB, Title VII, and the Employers Who Are Caught in the Middle Prior to joining Bloom Sugarman Everett, Steve most recently served as Assistant General Counsel in charge of retail and deposit operations litigation for SunTrust Bank. Before going in-house, Steve was a partner in the business and real estate litigation practice groups of Balch & Bingham LLP’s Birmingham, Alabama office. While living in Birmingham, Steve spent four years as an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama School of Law where he taught upper level classes in civil procedure and appellate advocacy.
